The Urgent Message Few Are Hearing
I’ve been feeling a strong urgency in my spirit lately about a message that God is speaking to His people, but many aren’t listening. It’s both simple and profound: “Be still and know that I am God.” For those of you who are warriors and fighters, I understand that this might be the hardest message to receive. You’ve spent your entire life fighting – but now God is calling you into a different season.
The Time Before the Time
We’re currently in what I call “the time before the time.” There’s a false sense of security spreading across the world. People think everything is settling down, that we’re entering a golden age. But what I’m sensing in the spirit is that we’re actually in a crucial preparation period – the calm before the storm.
The Warrior’s Greatest Challenge
For those of us who have always been fighters, this message presents a unique challenge. I recently received a powerful vision: I saw the Lord trying to remove armor from His soldiers, but their skin had become fused to it. The process of removing it was painful, literally ripping their skin, because they had worn it for so long.
Think about David – we often celebrate his victories against giants, but we rarely talk about his seasons of rest. He knew when to fight, but he also knew when to retreat to the stronghold. This balance is critical for our spiritual journey.
The Divine Pattern of Rest
Consider God’s pattern in creation: He worked for six days and rested on the seventh. Not because He needed to, but to establish a divine principle for us. This Sabbath rest isn’t just a suggestion – it’s a strategy. When our mouths are open, God’s mouth is closed. But when we choose to be still, to listen, that’s when He speaks.
The Metamorphosis of Stillness
I want you to picture a caterpillar entering its cocoon. During this transformation period, everything seems inactive. The caterpillar, once busy foraging and eating, now appears to be doing nothing. But in reality, it’s undergoing the most profound change of its existence – becoming something entirely new.
This is exactly what God is calling many of us into right now. It might feel like inactivity, especially for those of us who are used to constantly strategizing and making things happen. But here’s the revelation: Sabbath is the strategy. Rest is the strategy.
The Trap of Comparison
One of the biggest hindrances to entering this season of stillness is comparison. You might be looking at others advancing, achieving, and moving forward, thinking, “I should be doing more.” But what if God’s calling for you right now is to do less? What if His plan for you requires a season of being still?
Investing in Your Spiritual Growth
This season of stillness isn’t about doing nothing – it’s about investing in yourself spiritually. It’s about allowing God to pour into you instead of always being the one pouring out. Just as I recently enrolled in a master’s of theology program after 25 years of ministry, sometimes we need to position ourselves to receive rather than always give.
Breaking Free from Self-Sabotage
For many of us, the biggest battle isn’t external – it’s internal. We struggle with condemnation, shame, and an orphan spirit that drives us to constantly prove our worth. But here’s the truth: your identity is inherited, not achieved. You don’t earn it through accomplishments or accolades. You receive it as a beloved child of God.
The Promise of Divine Rest
Remember this powerful promise: “He gives His beloved sleep.” God wants to give you not just physical rest, but spiritual renewal. He wants to speak to you through dreams and visions, but first, you need to learn to be still enough to receive them.
A Call to Action
If you’re reading this and feeling a resonance in your spirit, I encourage you to take these steps:
1. Acknowledge where you’ve been relying on your own strength
2. Give yourself permission to rest
3. Create intentional times of stillness
4. Release the need to constantly achieve
5. Trust that God is working even when you’re still
Conclusion
Being still doesn’t mean being inactive – it means positioning yourself to receive from God in a new way. In this season, let’s embrace the challenge of stillness. Let’s allow God to remove our battle-worn armor and heal our wounds. Remember, sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is simply be still and know that He is God.
For those who have always been warriors, this might be your hardest battle yet. But it might also be your most important victory. In the stillness, you’ll find not just rest, but transformation, renewal, and a deeper revelation of who God is and who you are in Him.
