The Turning Point: When God Shifts You Into What’s Next
Three days before Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the Holy Spirit spoke to me with crystal clarity. I was preparing for Sunday morning service when He interrupted: “Mike, I want you to change your sermon. Call it the turning point.” What followed was one of the most divinely prophetic moments of my entire life.
I was on a ship retracing the Apostle Paul’s journey through Greece, teaching scriptures to an international audience on the very islands where they were written. Standing there, I made a decision that I was about to radicalize my approach to ministry. If everybody else was going to be bold, I was going to be bold too. I had no idea that “Turning Point USA” (Charlie Kirk’s movement) would become the center of international news within days. God was already orchestrating something far beyond my understanding.
FEELING THE SHIFT IN THE ATMOSPHERE
Do you feel the heaviness in the atmosphere right now? Can you sense that in the last several days there’s been a palpable shift from what was into what is? There’s an undeniable transition that we’ve experienced from life as we knew it into life as God is sovereignly pushing us into.
When I saw the news about the assassination, I began to weep. Just days earlier, I had literally entitled my message “The Turning Point.” God was trying to get this message out, and now it’s your turn to receive it. If you are reading this, this moment has been divinely orchestrated by God to get you back to His arms—not to a church, not to a preacher, but to Him.
FROM DIFFICULT TO DANGEROUS WATERS
In Acts 27, Paul found himself at his own turning point. He was leaving the island of Crete, which the text calls “fair havens,” a place that was safe but difficult. Paul warned that moving forward would take them from difficult sailing into dangerous waters, but they chose to listen to the pilot rather than the apostle.
This is exactly where we find ourselves as believers. We’ve transitioned from a time when being a Christian was difficult in this nation to a season when it’s becoming dangerous. Mark my words: there are demonized people who are not okay with you having a biblical opinion. But here’s the good news I have for you: We were built for danger.
The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, but the violent take it by force. I may not be physically violent, but the weapons of my warfare are not carnal. They’re mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. I’m built for this, and so are you.
THE DEMONIC AGENDA REVEALED
Last night I was seeking God, asking Him for the right words to say when they need to be said. I said, “God, I’ve cast demons out of people all over the world and studied the archeological record of demons and pagan gods. I’m struggling because I hear ‘senseless murder’ in the news, but I know there’s a reason. There’s a principality, a demon over America.”
Clear as day, the Lord spoke to me: “It’s Luciferian.”
I was watching my friend Mark’s Saturday night service, and toward the end of his sermon, he said the exact same thing. When those words came out of Mark’s mouth, it stunned me because it was just like how the Lord told me to preach “The Turning Point” two days before Charlie Kirk’s incident.
That serpent in the garden looked at Adam and Eve and said, “I know God gave you a command, but you can make your own plan. You won’t die.” The question right now isn’t Republican versus Democrat or white versus black. The question is: Do you believe in God, or do you believe that you are God?
BREAKING FREE FROM FALSE IDENTITY
Transgenderism represents a demonic spirit. When you study pagan representations of demons throughout history, these demons chose to represent themselves as transgender. But what’s the root? The root is: my identity is not received, my identity is achieved. I achieve it with surgeries, with hormone replacement therapy.
For those saying, “I’m not transgender, what does this have to do with me?” Depression and anxiety are also connected to Luciferian thought. One of the most Luciferian questions you can be asked is: “What are you going to be when you grow up?” Americans ask that question in our public education systems, and how many of us grew up still not knowing what we’re going to be?
Adam didn’t have to figure out what he would do with his life. Identity was given to him by his Father. Assignment was given, his wife was given, his life was given. When you feel like you are God with a lowercase g, you feel the crushing weight of anxiety, always having to figure out how to be a good god over your life.
THE GOSPEL OF RECEIVED IDENTITY
The gospel declares that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I was a bad god over my life. It led to infidelity, adultery, alcoholism, and shame. I told God, “I’m done being in charge. I want You to be my Lord and Savior.”
Romans 10:9 says we must confess with our mouth and believe in our heart that He is Lord and Savior. Everyone wants a Savior when they’re on their deathbed with cancer or having an anxiety attack. But I’m not just here for His hand. I’m here for His face. I want to know Him. He is the Lord.
What does Lord mean? Lord means my heterosexual sin will send me to hell just like homosexual sin will. I don’t just need a Savior; I need to submit to a Lord and say, “I’m not going to fight a battle with lust I’ll never win. I’m going to flee from sexual immorality, find accountability in the church, and show up to Bible studies.”
THE ARMY God IS RAISING
When I started V1 Church, I prayed every Sunday: “God, I don’t want to build a 21st-century church full of consumers who need coffee and bagels. Help me build a church like the first-century church, built on the blood of martyrs.”
We’re not in a $6 million building because this is a prosperity church. We’re here because sacrifice was poured out by people who said, “God, I’m here to serve You on this island.” You peel back the sticker that says V1 Church, it better say the kingdom of heaven.
Generation Z is leading this charge. They’re statistically the highest proportion of our population attending church, many without their parents. While older generations criticize, God is raising up 18-year-olds who declare, “I have a job to do,” just like young David when he killed Goliath.
YOUR TURNING POINT MOMENT
We’ve moved from celebration to concentration, from wine to blood. Some of you have been in the infant stage too long. It’s time to get off the milk of the Word and shift to the meat. Some of you have been nursing church hurt for 15 years. It’s time to armor up and trade the wine for blood.
God often conceals good news inside bad news. You don’t get a David without a Goliath. You don’t get a Joseph without a famine. When fear gets broadcast from Satan, it reveals his desperation, and Satan’s desperation reveals God’s mission on earth.
The most expensive place you can live is outside the will of God. If it’s His will, it’s His bill. He’ll make a way where there seems to be no way.
THE CHOICE BEFORE YOU
Just as God preserved Paul’s life through the shipwreck, He’s preserved your life through every trial. If you’re not dead, it’s because you’re not done. Some of you haven’t been to church in years and have experienced shipwreck after shipwreck. But in God’s mercy, He’s saying, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
The question is: Do you want to be saved from shipwreck, or do you want to receive Him as Lord and say, “Do what You will with me. Break these demonic spirits off me and free me from false identity so I can step into who You created me to be”?
This is your turning point. The middle ground is over. There are only two teams: sons of Satan or sons of the Savior. Heaven has been waiting for this moment when you stop being lukewarm and become fiery hot.
When you make Jesus Lord, the old passes away and all things become new. God doesn’t make you normal; He makes you new. You become part of a royal priesthood, a chosen generation.
Some of you carry shame from sexual sin, thinking you can never be normal. Others had purity stolen through abuse or imagination destroyed by early pornography exposure. But God declares: “Behold, I make all things new.”
The time is now. Put your Bible on top of your textbooks. Shine your light in the darkness. Pray on your lunch break. Declare there’s no spirit but the Holy Spirit in your space.
This Luciferian spirit holding this generation captive is being broken. You don’t have to achieve your identity—you can receive it as a son or daughter of the Most High God.
It’s a turning point. Will you turn?
